The women’s section of St Berchmans College is given the name ‘Assumption College' to commemorate the proclamation of the Dogma of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary.
His Excellency Rt Rev Dr James Kalacherry, the Bishop of Changanassery establishes a separate division for women in St Berchmans College to facilitate University education for the women of Kerala.
The foundation stone for the women’s wing is laid on 12 August 1949 the vision is taken up by Rt Rev Dr Mathew Kavukattu.
